    Default When designing a website...

    Hi,

I wanted to know what software do you use for creating websites.

I use Frontpage (I know, not many people like it; but I do)
Macromedia Flash (For my wesite logo)
Macromedia Fireworks (For creating custom images)
I have Adobe Photoshop, but really don“t know how to use it.

Who uses Adobe Illustrator? Is it better than Photoshop?

    Thank you for your time

    Hello,

When I am developing HTML/ASP/CSS I hand-code using TextPad. I also use Visual Studio for ASP.NET coding.

I also use Fireworks for graphics creations although I'm slowly migrating to Photoshop. Never used Illustrator though, I'm afraid.

I use TextPad (godly piece of software for £16.50 ex VAT!) and Fireworks.

I have used this combination for about 5 years with no problems to this day

I am thinking about moving to PhotoShop but i'm not very graphics-oriented and can't be bothered to learn how to use it properly.

I bought TopStyle Pro after reading the post and I have to say it's the best tool for working with CSS I've tried. Kind of pricy, but I found a discount at another forum
http://www.deprice.com/topstylepro.htm (not sure if it's stil valid though).
I've also discovered that there is a free version of TopStyle, although it has very few features compared to TopStyle Professional

Looks like the offer has ended - the price is about the same as on the official site.

The Lite version is very cut down although it's still better than a lot of paid for editors.

If you're serious about designing with CSS then the Pro version is the best software available (there's a fully functional 30 day trial too).

BBedit/Photoshop/CSSEdit are the top ones I use.
I used to love making actionscript driven flash things, but have lost touch with it these days. (ever seen this site, http://www.bit-101.com/ ? inspirational flash stuff.)
I have to admit though, I tend to use an incredibly diverse set of applications. I don't however use dreamweaver - I know it doesn't bastįrdise code quite as badly as it used to, but I still have bigoted opinions on the subject hehe.

Looking at everybody else's list I guess I am the only one who uses Illustrator a fair bit in designing web sites. In my opinion it has better tools for drawing shapes and hence outline layout. However I do still make a lot of use of both Photoshop and ImageReady.

For coding I use Visual Studio, UltraEdit and good old Notepad.
