    Default Secure folders for subdomains?

How do I enable secure folders on a subdomain? It doesn't seem to work as I expected it to...:

I created a subdomain and I put secure folder rights on the related directory.

If I browse to this directory using the actual domain, e.g.:

    http://www.domainname.com/subdomain/

then the secure folder works (I get the authorisation pop-up), however when I browse to this folder using the subdomain:

    http://subdomain.domainname.com/

then the page is displayed without authorisation pop-up.

I also noticed that, when using the subdomain 'directory browsing' is not allowed and in the other case it _is_ allowed. Can I change these settings somehow?

    Kind regards,
    Jasper

    Hello Jasper,
Unfortunatly, sub domains do NOT inherit settings such as Secure Folders and Directory Browsing. If you want/need this level of control on sub domains, add them as a full domain to Helm (eg mysub.domain.com), remembering to delete the sub domain you already setup on domain.com beforehand.

One related thing I learned today.

When I install secure folders on a domain, they work, but then, after I remove them and install them again (so, disable the secure folder functionality using Helm and enable it again) they don't work anymore (no login-dialog appears)? How's that possible?

    Hello There,
Did you re-add users, groups and folders?

    Hi,

That kind of thing happens to me too. I secure one folder. It prompts me out, I login correctly but then, after I enter again that folder, there is no more login popup. Does this work like cookies?

    Thank you for your time.

Now it works again (I'm logging in from another PC, so it could be because of caching or so - although I cleared all cache and cookies, restarted the browser etc., as far as I can remember...).

Yes, I also tried re-adding the users and folders.

Anyway, probable it's nothing. I will try it again. Thanks.

    Hi,

Once you've logged in to your secure folder, you should stay logged in until you close your browser - even if you leave your site and return later.
When you close your browser, you should be logged out.
