Default Multiple Users in Outlook 2003

I have a PC, my whole family uses it. I don;t have nor do I ever want to set up, user profiles in Windows. Ive used it before but the program issues (like Users not being authorised to access certain program like winamp), the hassle of switching users and IIS being a headache, made me clean install and start again with only 1 main admin account that everyone uses.

I have Outlook 2003, and I like its features, I use the calender and diaries alot. My moms work also purchased Outllok, and now she also wants to use Outtlok forher mail at home.

How can I set up identites (like in Outllok Express) so that multiple users can have seprate account in Outlook? I think its bloody stupid that MS didn;t include this in Outlook., but anyway, any help would be much appreicated.

    Ahh, I found a solution.

After reading countless posts about Exchange Server and setting uo Windows Profiles, Chilltech.net gave me an acceptable solution:

    Resolution
To step multiple identities in Microsoft Outlook 2003, follow the steps below:
    1. Created the first email account
    2. Open the Control Panel
    3. Open the Email icon
    4. Click on Show Profiles
    5. Make sure there is a dot next to ‘Prompt user for a profile to be used’
      a. That will pop up a box asking the user to choose a profile on Outlook startup
    6. Click Add (You should see existing profiles here)
    7. Enter the Profile Name, Click OK.
    8. A new window will appear, put the dot next to Add a New Email account.
    9. Continue on with standard email setup.

Use XP - you can switch users instantly with [winkey] + L and maintain complete separation of your mail profiles in outlook 2003.

Not a good thing if your wife is obsessed with eBay though.

I'd recommend user profiles as some less pc-wary member of the family will probably end up infecting the PC with crap somehow and if you lock them down it will save you much more hassle in the long run.

Yea, I had seperate user profiles before but it was basically a hassle with software not working.

What a nightmare... My old school had 3 networks, two of which were connected (the main network and the sixthform accomodation network shared an internet connection). someone in the sixthform (dont know whether deliberatly or accidently; dont even know who it was, but it was probably through stupidity) managed to release a virus onto the sixthform network. As admin of that network, it was my problem; and the sixthform server had full access to the main network. The first I knew was when my computer started behaving strangely. I realised that there was a virus loose on the network, and launched VNC to the server, only just managing to disconnect the link between the networks, before the virus killed my computer entirely.
