    Default Any news on Velvio

Just wondered if there was any update possible about the status of Velvio.

It's sprung to mind because a client of mine has just asked me to take control of around 400 domain names he owns, and I pondering the best way to go about it/place to manage them with. I predominatly use 123-reg at the moment.

Are these 400 domains in a variety of TLD's or are they mostly in the gTLD space?

Also, I assume you know that by transferring domains such as .COM's you will need to pay for one years additional expiry on each?

With .UK's you will need to pay for two years additional expiry of the domain expires in less than three months at the time of transfer, otherwise .UK transfers are free.

I actually have yet to find out the exact details. they are split fairly evenly, about 150 .com, 150.co.uk and 150.net

yeah, I know the joyous costs, but for once it won't be me footing the bill. 123-reg currently have an offer on for domain transfers at the moment too.

But isnt that transfer INTO 123-reg? I dont think 123-reg charge for OUT transfers, if they did I would never use them (if I were a customer).

ICANN rules state that when a new domain registrant accepts adminstration of an existing domain, THEY must renew it by one year.

Yeah sorry to confuse. The renewal is still payed, there is a transfer charge ontop of that, and it is this they have the deal on. I'm not sure how usual/unusual that charge is, so I'm not jumping into it without researching the options.

    EDIT

Oh and I am talking about transfering to 123-reg, not from, if I didn't make that clear either

This amount of domains should definately qualify you for reseller status with any of the ICANN accreddited registrars. This would satisfy the .COM & .NET domains.

Given the volume of .co.uk domains I would advise you to become a Nominet member and register .co.uk's directly. Membership fees for Nominet are quite cheap (£100 or so, don't remember the exact amount).

Doing this properly should allow you to make money on any other domain registrations you do.
