Default DVD Burning - Nero Alternative Required

Anyone know of any decent DVD/CD burning software. Upgraded to a new version of Nero and it's totally garbage, Audio CD's have skips in them and DVDs are jerky on playback.

Tried a different writer in my computer and the same result.

Has anyone got any recommended alternatives? (Preferably free )

Have you checked the default speed settings? Maybe it's too fast for your media?

Nope same media, it's really annoying. Plus I've tried burning cd's through ITunes etc and they are perfect so it definitly looks like it's nero that's playing up.

It used to be a great program but it seems lately that they've been spending too much time working on all the crap stuff they bundle on with it and the Nero Burning Rom application has gone downhill as a result.
