Default Full Text Service in SQL Server

    Hi there

We are thinking of moving a couple of our sites over to redfox.

Just a couple of questions before we do.

    1) Is enterprise manager available for SQL server?
    2) Is full text indexing of tables/colums available?

    cheers

    Hi Andrew,

You can use Enterprise manager with Redfox.

I don't think full text indexing is available. To be honest you'd probably struggle to find any shared hosting company that does have it enabled as it's quite resource intensive and there can be a high number of databases running off the one server so it can bog it down quite substantially.

Despite it not being available I can say that SQL Server performance is very good at RFH.

As JohnnyW sates, full text indexing is not available but Enterprise Manager access is allowed.

You can use Lucene.Net instead of full text searching if your app is .Net - it's a 3rd party bit of kit but the results are much better than Microsoft's search offerings!
