Default Load Balanace Access 97 ( lol )

    Hi All,

I know this is going to sound a strange question, because i'm sure you'll ask yourself "who in the hell would want to do that" !

Regardless, i'm going to ask anyway.

Does anyone know if it's possible to load balance an access 97 database across two web servers?

I know that in a cluster solution you can have NAS attached with an external scsi bus. Is this possible in a load balanced solution using an archaic database such as access 97 ?!?

I wouldn't be surprised if any of you have no idea about such software from the dark ages.

    Thanks in advace,

    Lordie

p.s. Can anyone reccomend 3rd party software for converting a very large and very complicated access DB to SQL? The SQL db conversion software just makes a mess of all the autonumber fields and a few other bits and pieces.

p.p.s I don't suppose theres an app that checks/updates static SQL within asp either.

Sorry, really should have involved a little about what i'm talking about.

    1000 + page web application running on 3 x 500mb linked access 97 databases.

100+ concurrent users and the server can't handle the load.

An upgrade to SQL looks like it's gonna take 2 or 3 developers 6 months without any further developments.

    Cheers,

    Lordie

You NEED to move it to SQL Server. I'm surprised it scaled that well in Access.

As for the dark ages, I wrote a multi user database that worked over netware 3 using Microsoft PDS 7 (QuickBASIC 7 basically) and the ISAM data backend. THAT is arcane and they STILL use it because it works perfectly!
