Default HOWTO: Create a Temporary "Pre DNS Propagation" URL

We have made the process of creating a "Pre DNS Propagation" URL even easier. To create a "Pre DNS Propagation" URL, follow these steps...

From the Helm Hosting Control Panel main menu:
    • Click the Domains icon
    • Click the domain name you wish to work with
    • Click the Prepropagation Supporticon
    • Press the Install button
Thats all there is to it! Now, your website is accessible via the (long but useable) URL given on the resulting page.

NOTE: The old dnsupdate.net URLs will no longer be supported from this point on, and will gradually cease to function in several weeks time.

Is FTP possible during prepropagation? I have a large number of files to upload and my prepropagation URL doesn't seem to work as an FTP host. Uploading one file at a time via File Manager won't be practicable in this case.

Yes, but in your FTP client instead of connecting to ftp.yourdomain.com, connect to the FTP IP Address given in the Helm WebHosting Control Panel on the FTP account page.

...remember to change your FTP client to ftp.yourdomain.com once the DNS has propagated.

Is it possible to access a subdomain with prepropagation support, like subdomain.domainname.com?

I tried putting subdomain- or subdomain. in front of the prepropagation URL, but obviously that it didn't work.

I expect not, but you can just use the example-com.domain-ref[…]com/subdomain/ style

Yes, I know. But I have to use the subdomain.domain.com style as some links refer directly to the root (of the subdomain).
