Default Running process once a day

    Hello,

I need to run a process which calls a web service (which can then go do everything required, makes sure content is upto date from various sources but the sources aren't updated that often) once a day but i'm not sure what the best way to do it is.

Can I setup a SQL Server 2005 Database Job which calls the web service?

    Whats the best way?

    Thanks
    Ben

Have you looked at the web scheduler that has recently appeared in Helm?

I must be blind nick, just had a look and can't see that facility in Helm. Most likely me being dumb again. But I take it you mean at the top level of your domain in Helm, where the Email etc is?

    Yeah, that's where it is.
You probably need to add the resource to your hosting package, they are called 'Web Schedules' and are located inside 'Web Resources' when you view your hosting package(s).

I wonder if I'm just special or something hehe! I just noticed it appear a little while ago out of the blue. Because I had cron tasks already set up via support tickets, the scheduler was added to the package and setup from the start. Here are the web resources I see:
    ODBC DSNs:
    Sub Domains:
    ASP:
    ASP.NET:
    ASP.NET 2:
    PHP 5:
    FrontPage Webs:
    Virtual Directories:
    Web Schedules:
    Shared SSL:
    URL Rewriting:
    Hotlink Protection:
    Secure Folders:
    Allow Web Forwarding:
    Allow Website Permissions:
    Custom Error Pages:
    MIME Type Editor:
    File Manager:

Anyway, even if you don't have the options in Helm at the moment, you can always request a cron task be setup via a support ticket.

Indeed, the Web Scheduler will only appear when you set your first scheduled (cron) task/job up by opening a support ticket
