Default Anyone using Drupal on RFH out there?

Hi, I have several sites running on RFH using Joomla and WordPress but next I want to try Drupal (a CMS) for a new site I am planning.

Before I start (and this thread is not intended as a 'Drupal vs Joomla' thread) I just wondered if anyone had set up Drupal on RFH IIS servers and if there were any issues I should be aware of?

    Drupal documentation says:
Drupal core will work using IIS5 or IIS6 if PHP is configured correctly. You will need to use a third party solution to achieve Clean URL's. In view of Microsoft's support life cycle it is suggested you use IIS6.
Can anyone comment on that statement? Clean URL's is something I have never been able to achieve on RFH IIS servers with Joomla and it would be nice to have this for Drupal. I think some kind of third party re-write module is needed (IIS Rewrite or ISAPI Rewrite) - Warren are these available yet?

    Cheers
    Mike

I installed drupal 5 on RF last week as a test and everything seems to be working very well. You should be able to achieve the clean urls using ISAPI rewrite, which has been available to us for a little while now.

Hi Nick, that's good to know thanks. Would you say that 5 is ok to go with ... I want to try out some themes and different language modules which I notice only have releases for 4.6 and 4.7 ... I assume these won't work with 5?

I've been looking around the Drupal site all day and I must say I'm impressed with it ... it seems to have a completely different aura to that of Joomla if you know what I mean ... just a bit more professional.

Do you have a site I can look at?

I litterally had never touched Drupal before last week, I am far from a Drupal expert. I decided to have a quick play as version 5 had been released. I quite like what I have seen. It does look flexible, and I was able to create a custom theme in not too long a time from knowing absolutely nothing about it. So much so, it may well be what I decide to use for my own website in the not to distant future.

As for the modules, If they don't have a v5 release then they may well not work out of the box, so that question would be one for the Drupal community. I can always help convert/fix any code if you come across any specifics problems with modules or purely with RF compatibility (when I get time).

hmmm, well I downloaded 4.7.6, put the files on my server, have setup the database, edited the config file as per instructions but the site is not appearing ... index.php is definitely there but I am getting page not found error ... any ideas? seems very odd ... all the files are there, I'm sure I've done everything I was supposed to.

Is this before you have added url rewrite rules?
Have you made sure that php is enabled on the domain?

Hi Nick, it's been a long day! I just thought about PHP when you replied, no it wasn't turned on. I'm so used to having PHP on all my sites I forgot that it wasn't automatically turned on ... doh! all works fine now, cheers. You working late!
