    Default Best CMS?

I've got a customer who wants a fairly simple site that they can update themselves.

Which open source CMS do people recommmend? It needs to be fully skinnable, but once setup it should be simple for the customer to change.

I appreciate any advice you have.

It all depends on your language choice I think. There are alot of portal software out there, that is open source. Some have more features than others. It also depends I think on if you want to use MySQL or MS SQL for the database.

    Just chill

    Default Cms

I've found Joomla works really well and has lots of useful extensions but the templates are difficult to customise. Also CMS Made Simple looks interesting and fairly straightforward.

I'd probably reccomend something like MODx, or for even more simplicity WebSiteBaker. Drupal is another one always worth considering as it is a very flexible and powerful cms that you can set up to be simple to use for regular maintainance.

If in doubt opensourcecms.com is a good port of call.

I would recommend DotNetNuke, because of its flexible skinning. But maybe it's not lean enough for your purpose.

Personally I stick with three (open source) CMSes that have proven to be stable, have a good supporting community and a lot of modules/plug-ins. The other two are Wordpress (for blogging sites) and a very simple flatfile CMS I developed myself.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I've gone for CMS Made Simple at the moment because it seems a good balance between configurability for me and simplicity for the customer.
