    Default Photo Gallery

    Hi,

Recently bought a new digi camera and can not stop taking pics and some friends in vietnam really want to see them. Can anyone recommend a cool free photo gallery script. If the script was asp.net then that would be even better.

    Hi James,

I've used Gallery and Coppermine both are php + mysql and free. I've not looked at or tried any asp.net apps.

    Regards
    Keith.

You could always save yourself all the bother and sign up to flickr?

I have used gallery2 on some sites and it is a fairly decent free solution with lots of add-ons should you want them.

There is a very basic script / tutorial here:

I looked at flickr but they restrict you to 100mb upload of photos per month. At the moment I have about 2gb of photos to upload which would take forever to upload at 100mb per month.

I have used MG2 on a few clients sites and found it easy to install, modify and use. It is PHP though.

Not necessarily; is that at the original resolution?
Many photo sites change (i.e. reduce) the resolution on upload to a level that's OK for normal prints and sharing but useless for backup or detailed viewing. Check it out, it may meet your requirements.

Not meaning to keep banging on about flickr, it just sounds like it would fit the bill better than managing your own hosted solution. It does not cost much to upgrade to a flickr pro account, and then you get unlimited everything.

I am planning on reducing the quality of the images before I upload them.

I looked at the flickr solution and the costed version. tbh I don't see the need to pay someone to look after my photos when I have the tools to hand.
