Default password on zipped backed up jobs

Ive just used the RedFox back up job system to back up some of mySQL databses.
Great little thing, BUT whats with the password to open up the zip folder? Is this really necessary?

All I wanted to do was back the data up just to store on file. I didnt particularly want to open it. But because it uses a password, it ment either saving each email with the password in or actually downloading each backed up job and unzipping it.

Ideally I didnt want to do anything with it, I just wanted to leave it for if/when I ever needed it.

If there does have to be a password on it, wouldnt it be better to have the password of our accounts? or same password for FTP for each domain?

    Hello There,
The password enforcement is there for security, but when creating backup jobs you are given the option to specify your own password - simply fill this in with something you will remember for each backup; only leaving it blank will generate random passwords.

If I specify a password, does that password then get sent out in the email?

Yes, so might be an idea to use a seperate pasword.

In fact if you type none as the password, the ZIP won't be passworded at all - but this isn't recommended.

Is there an easy way for me to request that ALL mySQL databases are backed up (we have a dedicated server).
Its just that each month im going through 60 odd domains, trying to remember if they have a database that needs to be backed up or not and then having to select and set the password.

Not using the online tool as you have to drill down into each domain; maybe the following will assist you?

Red Fox Hosting Domain Backup Application by Acumen Business Systems

...or you can program against the API (just like this software is):

Only the Helm API (mainly for billing related tasks):

We will be providing lots of APIs with our new websites.
