    Default .com advice

    Hi again,

I am in the middle of migrating host from a whole variety of places to redfox. I have hit an issue though, One domain reedstar.com is registered through Cube Media who have seemingly gone bankrupt or something like that. I cannot get in touch with them but need obviously to point the domain to the new nameservers.

Is there any other way around this in terms of updating the nameservers or even transferring the domain ownership. As far as I am aware nominet have a process for dealing with these requests but I am not sure who to go to for the .com version.

** edit ** I am aware that ICANN is the organisation overseeing this but I am not sure what to do, none of their policies or documents seem to cover it.

    Any help greatly appreciated

    Thanks

    Tim

    Default Fixed... sort of

Just thought I would post up here for anyone else that has or may have this problem.

I got it wrong, Enom seems to be the right place, not ICANN. Enom have a system that allows you to submit a support ticket.

I got a reply within minutes pointing me to an external site to start the process of reclaiming the domain. Good to know what to do when your provider goes bankrupt especially in the current climate.

    Default

This was possible as cube media must have used enom as the registrar through which they resold domains. If, for example, enom themselves went bankrupt, you would have to go back to ICANN.
Domain names are managed through a pyramid of trust, where ICANN is at the top, followed by their accredited registrars, who in-turn often offer reselling services to companies such as cube media, who may themselves offer a reseller program, and so it goes on.
