Default Tracking traffic from redirected (301) domains.

Any Google Analytics expert in the house
For ages I've redirected domain aliases using .htacces to the primary domain. I haven't paid much attention to the aliases. However I am curious how much traffic actually go's trough the different aliases. I am unable to find any reports that show traffic coming from aliases or redirects though. So I am wondering whether is actually being tracked in GA, or did I perhaps missed the obvious?

I don't think so, I don't think the show as a referring sites and GA's javascript would never be run under alias as the redirect would happens prior to a page load.

Thats right, though SmarterStats should pickup the aliases before the redirect since SmarterStats builds its data from the raw log files.

I was afraid that was going to be the answer when my searches turned up blank. However I've found a way to do so. Just make every domain redirect a campaign add the following URI: ?utm_source=example&utm_medium=referrer&utm_campai gn=301redirection
Then you will be able to track the number of times the primary domain was visited by looking at the Campaign (under Traffic Sources) metrics in GA.
