    Default Smartermail SyncML Support

Hi. I'd like to use the Smartermail SyncML feature (with the funambol plugin) - please can you advise as to how/if/when this may be enabled.

    Thanks!

    A quick google provides:

I had some trouble setting this up as well. But then I did a search on Google and went to the google-cached forum entry from the beta forum.

Download a Funambol client for the client you want to sync with at http://www.funambol.com/

Then set up the client to point to http://yourmailserver.com/Sync/Default.aspx

Use your normal login for your mail account.

Then just set up the Funambol sync client to sync the way you want to.

Tested with the iphone app - it works great!

OK this is a good place to start collating support information about SyncML:

The mail accounts support SyncML; That means that they support push email and contact / calendar synchronisation, in theory.

The recommended SyncML client solutions are the free ones from Funambol.
    https://www.forge.funambol.org/download/

The theory is that contacts, tasks, notes, emails, and calendar can be synchronised, although I dont know which combinations of these are going to function with each plugin / phone combination yet.

    Lets build a list!!!

    iPhone:
    Email : POP3/IMAP - PULL
Contacts: Manual Sync with funambol App - PULL (effectively)

To have PUSH support for all these items, (since ihpoine does not support background devices) we would need to pay for and enable the ActiveSync bolt on.

    Blackberry: Not tested yet
PIM Sync Client for OS 4.7 or newer
Sync Client for OS 4.2.1 up to 4.6
Push Email Client (all OS versions)

Please let me know if you have tried any of these! unfortunately I do not have a blackberry to play with, so I don't know which is the best one to use.

    Android:
    In developemnt

    Symbian:
    Not tested yet
Symbian S60 3rd ed and FP1 Sync Client
    Symbian S60 3rd ed FP2
and S60 5th edition Sync Client
Symbian (all) Push Email Java ME Client

    Windows Mobile: Not Tested

    JavaME: Not Tested

Can anyone shed any light on the level of functionality afforded with each plugin - and how they are configured, whether you get push email / contacts, or its a manual sync etc. etc.

    Look forward to some feedback!

Push Email is most important, and if not, the pop3/imap will be alright.
